Dave
Hall’s NewMad
The
talented team at Steve’s Restoration, along with the incredible design
abilities of Chris Ito, were combined with Dave Hall’s vision of what a 1955
Chevy Nomad could be. And that could only be NewMad.
With
so many of the intrinsic features that made the Chevy Nomad so appealing in 1955
retained within the New design, Dave Hall’s NewMad is a car so alluring that
you will find yourself “coming back for more.”
Which is exactly what we found ourselves doing…again and again. There
is just something so familiar yet different about NewMad that seeing it in
several different settings only perpetuates a photographer’s desire to capture
it at one more angle, just one more time.
We
are pleased to have NewMad as Wild Rods Premier Shimmering Rod! We are equally
honored to have met Dave, along with Designer Chris Ito and Builder Steve Frisbe
at the 2002 Grand National Roadster Show in San Mateo, CA earlier this year.
Dave
tells us that he has been a ’55 Chevy aficionado since high school when
he had a Bel Air hardtop. In 1995 he set out to find a Nomad wagon, and once in
his possession Dave began a journey that eventually lead him to Steve’s Auto
Restoration in Portland, Oregon and an introduction to the design talents of
Chris Ito. With so many ideas running through his head, Dave credits Chris with
listening to his ideas and sketching a complete car within a matter of minutes.
Finding that sort of design talent was exactly what Dave had been looking for.
Coupling Chris’ design talent and project management skill with
Steve’s mastery of fine detail and craftsmanship yielded a combination that
was destined to become a Hot Rodding milestone with NewMad.
We
hope you enjoy the variety of photographs of NewMad!
We
look forward to presenting other projects by Chris Ito and Steve Frisbe in the
near future.
